Is Hybrid the way to go?

I think most of us can agree that we are not yet ready for electric cars. In the UK for sure as not only are they much more expensive then their petrol counterpart but also the infastructure just is not ready for them. We struggle to power our houses and import an incredible amount of energy so adding our cars to the mix all charging at off peak times - it will not end well. All of that is before even looking at where the energy comes from - from a fossil fuel powered power station! So, is hybrid the way to go? Well, us petrolheads get to keep our V6s, V8s and V12s but we agree to compromise on an electric motor strapped to the side of the engine to minimise emissions. This was first bought to fruition more than 10 years ago when the holy trinity (Porsche 918, Mclaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerarri) came as hybrids and now everyone loves them not only for this hybrid discovery but aslo how there was no compromise on power and if anything increased the power.
So why am I ranting on about electric and hybrid cars? Well the new Porsche 911 has come equipped with an electric motor strapped to the engine and some people think it is the end of the 911 - but i think very differently. Porsche worked their heads off to be allowed to keep a petrol engine in their flagship model and stop it from turing electric from the emissions law in Europe.
Performance:
The new 992.2 911 GTS comes equipped with a 3.0 litre flat 6 and a hybrid motor that helps bring the turbocharger in instantaneously to produce the peak power at all times and this means that at any given moment the 911 GTS will produce 541 horsepower. The GTS still sticks to its roots and uses a planted RWD system.

Aesthetics:
The new 911 in my opinion looks absolutely incredible. Areo cooling flaps either side of the license plate that open and close on driving style and speed, same silhouette that Porsche has stayed faithful to for 60 years, fantastic 21 inch wheels as standard that I think compliment the styling incredibly well and finally very cool yellow brake calipers.

Moving to the rear end i am not entirely sure that i feel the same way. Something about it screams to me the new Panamera, i am not entirely sure what but until i find that out i am not to keen on it.
So, what i think is that Porsche deserve a proper round of applause, they listened to their customers and refused to go electric and have stayed faithful to us. If this is one of the last non-fully electric 911 then there is nothing we can do but at least they fought for as long as they could before being legally forced to go electric.
